The principle of Alumni-to-Alumni Mentoring is to establish a relationship between a Mentor who advises a Mentee on aninformal basis, tohelphim or herduring important transitions in his or her professional life, in his or her projects and/or in his or her current position.
The Mentor shares his or her knowledge and experience with the Mentee on how to open up to new approaches and ways of in a confidential, caring, dispassionate, objective, factual and development-friendly environment.
The Mentor is not a therapist, consultant or professional coach: he or she is more of an informal advisor, drawing on his or her experience, legitimacy and expertise in a particular profession, function or company.He draws on his experience, legitimacy and expertise in a profession, a function, a company, an industry or an organization, to help the Mentee find his way in his career or in his projects.
A Mentor is an ear, a shoulder and a source of ideas.He or she is an employee (part-time or full-time) with managerial or supervisory responsibilities , and is a Mentor on a voluntary basis.
