Presentation

Club CubeSat Supaero is the institute's technical club, enabling students to discover the world of space and the space industry through the design of a student nano-satellite, 100% Toulouse! Code name: TOLOSAT. The project was born of the club's alliance with the ASTRE association, which brings together students from INSA, ENSEEIHT, ENAC and Paul Sabatier University. They join the thirty or so ISAE SUPAERO students (1A, 2A, césure or 4A engineering students, masters students, CNAM engineers ... ) involved in the club, bringing the total number of members involved in the project to 60.

In concrete terms, what is TOLOSAT?

TOLOSAT is a nano-satellite project that came into being at the beginning of 2018. It is a 2-unit cubesat (20 cm long by 10 cm wide and deep) currently in the design phase (Phase B) and is intended as a technological demonstrator with two objectives (the payloads):

- To map the Earth's gravitational field using GNSS technology
- Demonstrate the possibility of using the Iridium-NEXT constellation of telecommunications satellites to communicate with an orbiting satellite from the ground.

The club is a unique opportunity to take part in a serious, large-scale student project, which is as exciting as it is rewarding, and gives you a first-hand insight into the reality of space missions. The TOLOSAT project offers a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, based on 10 major departments corresponding to the sub-systems of a cubesat.(Mission Analysis, Onboard Computer, Altitude Control, Structure, Thermal Control, Payload Gravimetry, Payload Iridium, Communication, System Engineering, Power). Last but not least, it's also an opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of CSUT and ESA (every year, club members take part in workshops organized by the ESA Academy).

Meetings

Weekly meetings are held every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm on the floor of the school's computer center (CI). Members meet in teams of 4 to 8 people to work on the project department for which they are responsible.
