What are the conditions to become an astronaut?
The European Space Agency (ESA) is looking for future astronauts and will launch a new recruitment campaign from March 31.
The agency highlights the diversity of profiles and even plans to look into the issue of disability. The selection process will be detailed on February 16 at a press conference.
Several conditions must be fulfilled to apply, starting with the diploma: a Bac +5 and professional experience in scientific fields (chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, medicine, engineering). ESA also says a career as a pilot or test engineer is definitely a plus. Finally, English is essential and Russian strongly recommended, in order to facilitate training and integration into the Gagarin training center.
